Dear Families,
Usually I would be writing an end of the month newsletter but after only 5 days back at school I have decided to roll this over until May when we will have more news to share!
It has been lovely to welcome the children back to school and begin our new topics for the term and see (and hear) their enthusiasm around school. We have been talking about the expectations within school and I would like to thank you for supporting this – evident in the improved appearance of uniform, including on PE days.
We have also welcomed Mrs Alex Chamberlain as our temporary office manager while we recruit a permanent member of staff. I am sure many of you have already spoken to her on the phone and we thank her for stepping into Wayne's large shoes!
I would like to congratulate Willow, in Class 4, for being one of ten winners (out of 24,000 entries) in a poetry competition for Young Writers - an amazing achievement! You can view her winning poem "Partner in Crime" at Partner in Crime
The restoration work to the pond area is now complete and I am very excited to be able to get out there and use the area with the children. This would not have been possible without the generous support of two grants, one from the Batchworth Trust and another from Persimmon Homes. There have been lots of positive comments from the children as they can now see over the fence easily!
As a reminder, please note that the summer term will end on Thursday 21st July instead of the Friday to account for the additional Jubilee bank holiday which occurs during school’s half term holiday.
With best wishes for a restful long weekend,
Mrs Rowena Silk
